Professor Dr Saad Rana
has the highest International qualifications and vast experience in Gynecology, Obstetrics and Reproduction. He taught the subject for over 25 years and served as professor of obstetrics and gynecology first as head of department at Rawalpindi Medical College and allied teaching hospitals (Holy Family & DHQ Hospitals) at Rawalpindi, and then at King Edward Medical College and allied teaching hospitals (Lady Willingdon & Lady Aitchison hospitals) at Lahore.

Revolutionary advancements took place in the last 4 decades of 20th century which completely changed the practice of Gynecology and Reproduction. This all happened during the active professional career of Professor Saad Rana. He was actively involved as pioneer in these advancements and is credited with their introduction in Pakistan . Whether it was Ultrasound in Gynecology, Obstetrics and Reproduction, Prenatal Fetal Monitoring and Other Techniques of Fetal Surveillance, Monitoring Labor, Assisted Reproductive Technology or Gynecological Endoscopy, his name appears at the top as their pioneer in Pakistan . His teaching departments were always equipped with the latest technology at par with the developed countries and were training centers for others. Latest techniques and latest concepts were always used for the evaluations and management of the Gynecological, Perinatal and Fertility problems. He is also credited with organizing congresses and workshops to introduce these technologies to others where world authorities participated. Prof Norman Morris former Dean of university of London visited Pakistan many time on Prof Rana’s invitation in support of these activities. He is founder president of Ultrasound Society of Pakistan, Pakistan Society of Perinatology, and Pakistan Society of Hysteroscopy. He started Pakistan Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology which lead the developments and research in obstetrics, gynecology and related fields in Pakistan and continues to patronize its publications. Besides many research papers, he is author of a prestigious book, “Obstetrics and Perinatal Care for Developing Countries” which is acknowledged as one of the most comprehensive and best books on the subject.
